The town of Cahir was buzzing with excitement

The town of Cahir was buzzing with excitement as we warmly welcomed Their Royal Highnesses (then) Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to the Tipperary Food Producers’ Farmers’ Market. A select group of our network’s producers had the honour of showcasing the exceptional bounty that Tipperary has to offer and discussing their endeavours as local businesses with the royal couple.

Known for his appreciation of hearty meals, King Charles III’s visit added an extra layer of thrill for us producers. We shared our commitment to building a sustainable local community, delved into conversations about sustainable eating habits, emphasised the importance of honouring fresh and seasonal produce, and discussed the significance of nutritious food.

The kind words we received and the incredible opportunity to highlight our hard work are deeply appreciated. March 25th, 2022, now holds a special place in the hearts of Tipperary Food Producers, marking a date that will be remembered with gratitude and pride!

Their Royal Highnesses commented:
“We enjoyed the visit, and we are glad to be back in Ireland for the first time since 2019. Your contribution to the warmth and depth of the strong links between our countries was significant.”

Our Producers

Tipperary Food Producer Network has grown to 36 members and continues to expand. Our diverse community includes dedicated producers—cheesemakers, beekeepers, fruit farmers, cider makers, butchers, bakers, and creators of various delightful products such as sauces, jams, ice cream, sorbet, vegetable oil, sweets, chocolates, crisps, corn tortillas, and peanut butter.

Many of our hands-on producers cultivate top-quality offerings from nature’s abundance, crafting everything from globally recognised Cashel Blue Cheese to local gems like Boulabán Farm ice cream and Emerald Oils.

Members like Julian and Helen forage for elderflower raw material, creating refreshing Irish Hedgerow drinks, while at the southern end of Tipperary, the Mac Giolla Coda family of Galtee Honey actively contributes to saving the native Irish honey bee. These stories are just a glimpse of the remarkable examples within our diverse membership.
