Redwood Market Garden

Situated on the fertile limestone soils of North Tipperary, Redwood Market Garden is nestled between the north east shores of Lough Derg and the River Shannon in the parish of Redwood, Lorrha.

Having completed Jim Cronin’s Commercial Horticulture course in 2015 and the Organic Growers of Ireland Internship in Organic Horticulture, Conor Foxton established Redwood Market Garden in 2017 with the aim of producing high quality naturally grown seasonal vegetables for a local market.

All of Conor’s produce is grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Building and maintaining a healthy, resilient soil to produce healthy crops is a core principle of Redwood Market Garden. This is achieved by applying fertility in the form of locally sourced, composted farmyard manure, growing and incorporating green manure crops, practicing strict crop rotation and encouraging biodiversity through sowing of flower strips to attract beneficial insects and pollinators.

Production is focused on meeting customer demand at Conor’s market stall at Killaloe Farmers Market and Lakeshore Community Market, located in the village of Terryglass.

In his polytunnels, he grows early potatoes, carrots, beetroot, salads and spinach in springtime and heat loving crops such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, courgettes and french beans in the summer followed by a variety of salads and spinach in the winter.

Outdoor field crops include potatoes, carrots, parsnips, leeks, onions, garlic, squash, beetroot, brussels sprouts.

All produce is hand harvested fresh for market.
